Preserve Planet Earth (P.P.E) - Barbary Ape

The Preserve Planet Earth series of coins first began in 1993, as a combined effort from a number issuing countries, including Gibraltar, to highlight the plight of many of our endangered species, by issuing commemorative coins.

As in previous years, part of the profits from sales of the coins were donated to the London Zoo Endangered Animals Fund.
