The reverse design of each coin features an element related to the new Monarch, included is his Offical Royal cypher along with imagery and items associated with the coronation.

The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 had a profound impact all across the world. Her image had graced Gibraltar coinage for decades, symbolising stability and tradition. Gibraltar was one of the first territories to unveil a new effigy of King Charles III. This new effigy was created by sculptor Raphael Maklouf for exclusive use on the coins of Gibraltar, making him one of only a few sculptors to have created effigies of two monarchs on coinage.
In honour of this new Carolean era, we are proud to issue a brand new set of definitive coins, each featuring different elements, imagery and items related to the King Charles III and his coronation including his official Royal Cypher.
Unlike other definitive collections in recent years, the new 2023 definitive collection includes one coin of each denomination from one pence all the way up to five pounds.
